Anyone with even a modicum of awareness recognises the state in which we live. <\/p>\n
Human beings have built a world of their own, governed by rules they themselves have created \u2014 and these rules produce, with precision, the very problems they later complain about. The haste that makes us ill. The competition that isolates us. The abundance that does not satisfy. The noise that prevents us from thinking. The unrelenting pressure that nobody can explain where it comes from. <\/p>\n
It is neither an accident nor bad luck. It is the predictable result of a system functioning exactly as it was designed. Human beings are not being destroyed by an external enemy: they are being destroyed by the world they have made for themselves.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
And what have they done with everything else?<\/i> <\/p>\n
But here we come to the point that makes this moment different from all others. <\/p>\n
Throughout most of history, human beings destroyed mainly themselves. This is no longer the case. <\/p>\n
They have begun to destroy the planet itself. They have begun to behave as if everything belonged to them \u2014 by a right that no one has granted them and that they have bestowed upon themselves. Animals, forests, waters, soil, air, all of life: everything treated as property, raw material, waste.<\/p>\n
What is being destroyed is no longer just humankind. It is all life. It is all existence on this planet \u2014 those without a voice, those who did not choose this, those who never had a say in the decisions that condemned them. <\/p>\n
Whilst the damage was limited to those who caused it, there was a point in letting each person take responsibility for their own choices. That limit has been exceeded. When the actions of one species begin to destroy all others and the very body of the planet itself, it is no longer possible to stand by passively. <\/p>\n
