There was a time when the spiritual realm had a place on Earth.

The Ark of the Covenant rested within the Temple in Jerusalem, in a completely enclosed chamber where no light could enter. There, according to all that tradition records, the supernatural manifested itself in a real and verifiable way, acting upon matter.

With the disappearance of the Ark, this ceased. Since then, some 2,600 years have passed — or more, if it disappeared before the destruction of the First Temple — without anything replacing it. That is at least twenty-six centuries during which humanity has lived without any place on Earth where the spiritual realm touches matter in this way.

The entire history of humankind as we know it — empires, science, revolutions, world wars, the industrial age, the digital age — has unfolded entirely within this void.
